Offshore and outsourcing today are used interchangeably in the IT sector and undoubtedly have become business lexicon. Talking about India and its outsourcing trends in 2008, what I have found that there will be unexpected rise in the demand of resources and Indian rupees value; at the same, decline in the U.S. dollar is also evident. I have read lot of IT related stuffs - bloggers comment, PR, newsletters and concluded that 'Merger & Acquisition', 'Consolidation and Integration' activities are at hype and are going into gear. One basic reason behind this is that Indian provider have entered U.S. market by buying local market. With global IT service providers and customers on the edge, the rupee price value is expected to rise and many offshore outsourcing new hubs are growing to grow and expand in India and beyond the Indian boundary.
With the rise in Indian rupee and decline in U.S. dollar it will really become difficult to manage the IT business market and we will experience currency stress and upthrust in the global market. Remember, these are merely predications and involves lots of risk. Outsourcing will continue to have a large impact on deciding which business to go with. This will surely affect IT professionals, designers, programmers, developers, quality testers. This will also tend many methodologies to find new way to survive in the market.
But, very sure this year, 2008 will again be IT dominated. Microsoft technology like .Net and Open source technology like Web 2.0, Ruby on Rails and LAMP will swing and exponentially grow. SAP that makes open source global database and is the driving force of the web economy, is going to be acquired by Sun Microsystems a leading power of the web. To be very true this acquisition will reaffirm Sun's position in the web. This will also help Open Source become hallmark business model for all the software development companies.
